The Power of Rest

It’s been a while since I have written anything.  In life you have to step away from things in order to assess whether its still worth doing.  This blog has really helped me and I believe some of you so off we go into 2010.  My family and I just came back from a wonderful vacation in Jamaica.  My parents are from Jamaica so it was good to go “home”.  Going to Jamaica was great simply because it offered me the chance to get some true rest.  You work hard all year, bust your hump, and finally you get a chance to just unwind.  My wife can tell you that when I vacation I take it very seriously.  No blackberries, no agendas, no work talk, no healthy food.  Just black cake and ice cream.  What I like about vacation is that it gives me the chance to just listen.  Listen to myself and listen to God.

It is a chance to worship in thought and reflect on the goodness of God and his mercies towards me.  Let’s face it, alot of people are not going to see 2010.  Rest allows me to hold a mirror up and determine whether I like what I see.  Based on my growing belly, there are some changes I need to make ;0).  As the holiday season winds up I pray that you had an opportunity to find some true rest, somewhere, somehow.  All things are possible in 2010.  Let’s go. Happy New Year.
